History of Grama Panchayat
The Eroor Panchayat was formed following the first panchayat elections held in 1953. Although it was named Eroor Panchayat, its initial headquarters was in Kulathupuzha. At that time, the regions comprising the present-day Aryankavu Panchayat were part of the Puliyara Panchayat. The first Eroor Panchayat was a sprawling territory that extended from Kazhuthurutty westward, including the Hillkara ward (which comprised the plantation sectors excluding the Venture Estate), alongside the entirety of the present-day Thenmala, Kulathupuzha, and Eroor panchayats.
The first President of this vastly extended panchayat was Eroor K. Ramachandran. Over time, the expansive northern and eastern territories were bifurcated from the original Eroor Panchayat to create two new local bodies: Kulathupuzha and Thenmala. Later, as a result of the 1969 panchayat delimitation, Thenmala Panchayat was further divided into two separate entities: Thenmala and Aryankavu.
